Heading back South to Spain (picked the correct city this time). GPS is in place, loaded up on Euro’s and taking the motorway. Two hours and forty-five minutes on the way down.
Barcelona is bigger than I expected and when the travel books suggest that you don’t drive – they are not kidding. Think of a merge between Montreal, Chicago and Seattle and you’ve got Barcelona. Except Barcelona is bigger and cooler.
Jen setup a flat on the internet so it was with cautious optimism that we checked in. Turns out the place is awesome. Right in the middle of downtown at a major intersection. Gaudi’s house is across the street and the city is bustling with activity.
We got settled in, I ran the car back to the airport, and headed off to the cocktail reception for the ActionCOACH Global conference (which is why we are in Spain in the first place). It works out well that we travel around the world to attend conferences.
Quick learning from our friends in France. It is interesting how at our home in North Carolina, we eat dinner at 5, baths around 6:15 and kids in bed by 7:30 to 8:30 depending on how old they are. It is like we are focusing on what’s next. In Carcossone and on the coast, dinner was at 7, baths were around 8:30 and bed was 9 to 10 depending on when we got around to it. Meals, by my clock, took forever and it took a day or two to get used to it.
What I learned was that the cultures we’ve been in have a wonderful view of focusing on the now – what are you doing currently. What is next will be current in a little while, so don’t worry about it. Interesting approach and one I hope to hold onto for a little while anyway.
Time to switch a bit into business owner mode for conference – so here goes, Steve Brock, ActionCOACH.
Talk with you tomorrow.
